Four Elements of Fitness

I have laid out the 3 Levels of Your Life addressed in my program and in my book , now let me introduce the four connected elements of fitness:

Element #1: Mind and Spirit: getting your head right
Element #2: Power Food: eating for your body, not against it
Element #3: Cleansing: cleaning out the toxins that slow you down
Element #4: Exercise: getting the most out of the body you've got

The Four Elements of Fitness give you the power over the one body you have and power over the one life you have.  Many of my future posts will be categorized under these elements and will discuss how we can use them on a daily basis.

Fitness takes Coordination

I don't mean "the harmonious functioning of muscles or groups of muscles in the execution of movements" - by "coordination" I mean that the fitness formula requires a coordinated effort on every level of your life:

- The Physical Level
- The Mental Level
- The Spiritual Level

If you leave one out, you will end up feeling like a 3-legged stool with one leg missing - you will fail. If you work through a multifaceted program that gets all 3 of these levels working together you will achieve your goals.  I have created a program that we will work through on this blog and I call it One Body, One Life.  I wrote a book by the same title - you can buy it here my book - and this blog is going to be the perfect compliment to it.

Six Fitness Myths I Want To Blow Up As We Begin:

Exploding_wave - Fitness does not come from repetitive exercise
- Fitness does not come for lifting extraordinary weight
- Fitness does not come from starving ones’ self
- Fitness does not come from be dissatisfied with how you look
- Fitness does not come from focusing solely on appearance
- Fitness does not come from suffering

Think about these myths, tell me what you think about them and I will expand on them each over time.

Embracing Change

248315470_5bf035dabb_mIt’s exciting for me to work with people who really want to change.  My company, Holistic Fitness, works primarily with movie stars, rock stars, and high-octane executives--the kind of people who embrace change, see it as a path to growth and demand results.
Many other, less committed people, I’m certain, read web sites, buy fitness books and join health clubs for a very different reason: to keep from feeling guilty.  They just want to go through the motions, without breaking a sweat, without really trying.  It makes them feel good to convince themselves they have done something.
These people do not really want to change.  For them, it’s just too much trouble.
What makes me think you’re not one of them?  Because I know you could have found a less realistic, less authentic blog.  There are all kinds of hokey books and sites out there that say all you need to do is work out three times a week for ten minutes to look fabulous.  You could have picked one of those.  That's not what we are going to be talking about on this site.

More About Me

I founded Holistic Fitness® in 1994 when I realized there was a direct connection between mentality and results. "When the mind and body connect, your body changes very quickly."

Most people go to gyms for external reasons: vanity, to "look good." Everyone wants external results but no one connects internally. Effective training requires one to approach it from a perspective of self and not some idea of self, some outside picture of someone else they want to look like. No, you must start with you, who you are right now and grow from there.

The whole gym experience, loud music, bright lights - I find they're usually just a vast, wide-open, generic experience that's not conducive to relationship with self at all; just the opposite.

On this blog, I hope to support you, help nurture that inner-relationship while we create a program that works for you and you alone - it's an experience unique to who you are.

I know people can control their bodies. As long as they connect with themselves and listen to that connection they can do anything. I know how to give that to people, not create it for them but help them find it, hear it. I help them connect and offer all the support I can. They do the rest. The results come from them, not me.

About Me

Gjr_from_abc I have been a fitness trainer based on the West Coast and traveling around the world for over 15 years.  Fitness has changed a great deal over this time – growing from an activity done by a few to a focus of a large part of our population – and I take great pride in believing that I have played and continue to play a role in this fitness revolution.

I have worked with many clients (more on them later), I have been on numerous television programs including the “America Takes It Off” series on Good Morning America, I wrote a book called In One Body, One Life: Six Weeks to the New You, I have created a line of high quality supplements and detoxification cleanses sold through health and wellness outlets as well as an online store (http://store.holisticfitness.com/) and I founded and continue to run a company called Holistic Fitness, which is a state-of-the-art fitness team with a revolutionary approach to health and fitness.  I know that I have helped people.
